Woman Gang-Raped in Munshiganj

Timeline of Events

• The victim was waiting for a boat at the old Mawa ferry ghat to travel to her husband's home in Uttar Charjanajat

• Two men (Abu Bakar and Jamal), known to her husband, offered her a ride in a trawler

• Two more suspects (Yamin and Jabbar) boarded the vessel during the journey

• The four men took her to an isolated area at Domrakhali Char where the assault occurred

• Around 9:00 PM, they dropped her near the old Coast Guard station in Mawa

• Before fleeing, they threatened her against reporting the incident

Legal Proceedings

• The victim filed a written complaint the following day (February 17) naming four suspects

• After preliminary investigation confirming her claims, police registered the case on February 18

• Police conducted an operation in the Jashaldia Kutupkhola area of Louhajang Upazila

• Three suspects were arrested:

  • Md Jamal Molla (23, identified as prime accused)

  • Yamin Munshi (19)

  • Jabbar Sheikh (18)

• All three gave confessional statements in court under Section 164 before being sent to jail

• The fourth suspect, Abu Bakar Siddique (22), remains at large

Woman Gang-Raped in Moving Bus in Chittagong

Timeline of Events

• The woman boarded a minibus from the Mansa Badamtal area at 9:30 PM to return to her home.

• Other passengers got off at Moijjartek junction, leaving her alone on the bus.

• After crossing Shah Amanat Bridge toll plaza, the bus helper assaulted her.

• The driver later also assaulted her when the bus went around the bridge area.

• The perpetrators drove the bus on various routes during the incident.

• Around 11:30 PM, they abandoned the woman at Shantirhat bazar/area in Patiya.

Legal Proceedings

• The victim's husband filed a case on Monday (September 9) at Karnaphuli Police Station.

• Case filed under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act

• Police arrested two suspects on Tuesday (September 10):

  • Bus driver: Azad Khan/Azad Khan Rana (reported as either 20 or 23 years old)

  • Helper: Shahedul Islam/Md Sahedul Islam Mizan (19 years old)

• Both suspects confessed to the crime in court under section 164

• They were sent to Chittagong Central Jail
